Inverness Caledonian Thistle beat Dunfermline Athletic to move four points clear in second spot in the Scottish Championship.

Shaun Rooney netted the opener and Aaron Doran and James Keatings could have put the hosts further ahead.

Dumfermline striker Kevin Nisbet was foiled in a one-on-one with goalkeeper Mark Ridgers, before Jamie McCart headed Caley Thistle's winner.

Defeat sees Dunfermline drop out of the promotion play-off places.

Inverness Caledonian Thistle manager John Robertson: "On the face of it, it seems the perfect day. As a manager you want the three points, a clean sheet and the performance too. We still had to concentrate, still had to be lively as Dunfermline have players who can hurt you if you don't keep an eye on them."

Dunfermline manager Stevie Crawford: "It's a very difficult place to come, we had chances we could've scored from and were punished. The second half we huffed and puffed. Inverness managed the game really well."
