Maidenhead United 2-0 Wrexham

National League

Daniel Whitehall's brace sent Maidenhead United up a place to 17th in the National League as they comfortably saw off struggling Wrexham.

James Akintunde set up Daniel Whitehall for a superb first-half opener, with his second coming after the break.

Wrexham hardly threatened as they stayed in the relegation zone, albeit a point from safety.

Maidenhead host Notts County on New Year's Day, while Wrexham go to bottom club Chorley.

Wrexham boss Dean Keates said:

"It's going to be a scrap to get out of the situation we're in. Does it need addressing asap (as soon as possible)? Yes.

"We've picked up nine points out of a possible 15. You talk about it at the beginning of the season; 10 points out of a possible 15 gives you 90 points at the end of the season so we're not a million miles away.

"The only frustrating thing for me is one minute we're picking up decent points and performances and we're either black or white, we aren't finding a grey patch. If we're not winning, we need to grind something out and make sure it finishes 0-0 or 1-1."
