England winger Jadon Sancho is "very happy" at Borussia Dortmund, says the German club's chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke.

The 19-year-old has scored 14 goals and assisted another 14 this season, and has been linked to a number of Premier League clubs.

"I think he has the feeling that the club does have a good future," Watzke told BBC Sport.

"In my opinion, I don't think he wants to leave."

Sancho was 17 when he left Manchester City for Dortmund on the last day of the 2017 summer transfer window, costing the Bundesliga side about £10m.

He scored 13 goals last season, as well as making his England debut in the Nations League game away to Croatia in October 2018.

With speculation now surrounding the player's future, Watzke admitted it is "not clear what will happen".

"We have a very confidential relationship between us and him and his agents," he added. "We will discuss it."

Watzke also asserted that Dortmund - who are third in the German top flight - will not be swayed by the size of any offer they may receive for Sancho, who began his career at Watford.

"It's not a question of money," said Watzke. "For us, it would be the best position if he stays at Borussia Dortmund.

"We have enough money. We want to have titles. I think this team has a lot more potential with Jadon than without Jadon."

Pretty sure more than anything, it's the British press trying to engineer a move for Sancho back to England.

Let the guy develop at his own pace.

He's a star at Dortmund and plays every game.

Sancho should stay where he is, Dortmund are one of top teams in Germany, the German league is strong, regularly in the champions league, playing at a fantastic stadium in front of over 80 000 fans each home game, capped for England, its a no brainer to stay where he is.

From a footballing perspective, he'd be foolish to trade an exiting attacking side in the Champions League for Man U or Chelsea.

From a financial perspective, he'd be foolish not to move while his stock it sky high...

@ no.48 what the hell are you talking about? As a BVB fan, we would welcome Klopp back in a heartbeat, he’s probably our most popular manager of the last 20 years. Not to mention he won the league here two years running, doing the double in 2012? Maybe stick to commenting on things you know at least a little bit about...

Sooner see him stay with Dortmund & play alongside Haaland next season, providing a strong challenge to Bayern Munich, & I think playing In Germany makes him a better technical player, but money talks, so he may well be back in England this summer. Nonetheless, looking forward to him tearing it up at the Euros in June.

As a Man Utd fan, I'm desperate for us to sign Sancho, he is undoubtedly one of the best young players in the world.

However, as a fan of the player, I think he should stay at Dortmund for at least another year before going anywhere. A really good club with a promising young squad and great youth development, it would be a shame to not see what they can do.

English journalists are completely blinded by the Premier League, they seem to think you haven't made it unless you play for a 'top 6' English club. Dortmund are a brilliant club who seem to be run very well and are one of the best teams to watch at the moment. He can have a good career overseas. He doesn't have to play in England just because he is English.

Compare Phil Foden ( who I do really rate ) and Sancho,s career . Both were at Man City . Both are now aged 19 years old. Sancho left to secure more game time . In the last 3 seasons Foden has played 31 Premier games for City . Sancho has played 68 Bundesliga games for Dortmund , and been capped 11 times for England.

Sancho was savvy enough to realise that Man City do not have the monopoly on bringing on young talent. He has taken his chance with open arms but that is down to working hard for himself and his club. Haalland also recognised Dortmund as a meaningful opportunity. Best off where they are getting automatic selection rather than bench warming under the guise of careful development.

Just because he’s played more games at nineteen than Foden doesn’t mean his career is better or will be better.

Leave that judgement to when they’re both 35. They’re both developing in different ways -that’s all. And don’t forget that Foden has just won a trophy.

As for Sancho leaving Dortmund. If it ain’t broken don’t fix it....

He is already at a big club in terms of fanbase, with the highest average attendances in Europe at Dortmund.

And he is surrounded by an increasingly great squad - Witsel, Can, Haaland and Reus.

Stay where you are Jadon. Coming back to the EPL is a step down unless money is your God?

Part of the issue with the England squad is that we don't have enough players in other leagues. The more players out there, learning other styles, gaining experience outside of the Prem, the better.

For purely selfish reasons he should stay, it would be good for our England side.
