Middlesbrough have bright in former Cardiff City winger Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and Fulham wide man Neeskens Kebano in deadline-day moves.

Both 28-year-olds have joined until the end of the season with Kebano moving on loan while Mendez-Laing was unattached.

DR Congo forward Kebano has twice won promotion to the Premier League with Fulham and started his career at Paris St-Germain.

He has started one top-flight game this term and scored in the FA Cup.

"It's a deal I didn't think would happen," Middlesbrough boss Neil Warnock said.external-link

"We've been after Neeskens for a few weeks now and we've managed to get it over the line, which is a real plus for us."

Mendez-Laing was released by Cardiff in the summer and links up with Boro boss Neil Warnock, who managed him when he helped the Bluebirds win promotion to the Premier League in 2018.

The Birmingham-born winger has made more than 300 appearances in a career that began at Wolves in 2009.

"I know Mendez well and he'll give us an added dimension," added Warnock.

"It'll be couple of weeks before he's match fit but it'll be great to have him for this run-in now.

"We have been short of wide players and he is a player with something to prove. We're looking forward to having him here."

With the addition of Yannick Bolasie earlier in the window, Boro will hope to increase their attacking options as they aim to move into the play-off places.
