Swindon Town 0-0 Tranmere Rovers

Goalkeeper Joe Murphy was the hero as Tranmere's early-season run of not conceding continued as they saw out a 0-0 draw at Swindon.

Murphy made two excellent saves to register his third clean sheet in as many league games.

In the 69th minute, Harry McKirdy was played in one-on-one by Jack Payne before being denied brilliantly by Murphy.

Seven minutes later, Murphy kept out McKirdy again after a fantastic Ben Gladwin pass had set him up for a shot.

The visitors did have chances of their own, none better than Emmanuel Dieseruvwe's header from point-blank range that was somehow clawed out by Robins keeper Jojo Wollacott in the 52nd minute.

Payne was the game's brightest prospect, stinging the palms of Murphy with a powerful effort and also having a shot cleared off the line in the second half during a corner routine.

Callum McManaman came closest to scoring in the first half but he could only curl straight at Wollacott after collecting a poor pass out from the back.

Swindon are playing decent football, particularly given they had about 5 players a few weeks before the season started. If they can bring in a natural finisher, they could be dark horses for promotion.

I thought Tranmere’s best chance was when Ryan Watson missed from about four yards in when he looked certain to score. Draw probably a fair result.

Thought the match was a real credit to league 2 football. Thoroughly an entertaining game from start to finish. Well played both sides.

Thought it was an entertaining 0-0. Either team could have snatched it. Swindon clearly need a striker. Nothing up front. A striker could turn Swindon from also ranks to challengers. And to think 3 weeks ago there were only a handful of players at the club. No chance of falling out of the league.

Rovers can't keep relying on the keeper for clean sheets, when there are no goals at the other end. One goal in 3 games......??

My son's in one of the Swindon Town youth teams, and was keen to go watch this game. I was really surprised how good the game was. Swindon played some excellent possession football and really should have won. They probably need to turn their possession into more clear cut chances.

Tranmere denied an obvious penalty when Mani was pulled early in 2nd half.
