@113 My bad, says 4 current and Schumacher is a definite one so guess they may be the other 2.
@113 I think the BBC already said Vettel and Alonso haven't made the top 20.
on the greatest drivers list (see below)
i still cant believe the bbc are going to rank vettel ahead of gilles villeneuve nigel mansell mika hakinen and hamilton absolute joke.
Obviously it's a lot easier to win when you use team orders all year, another reason why Schumacher had it easy. Barrichello and Irvine weren't as good as Schumacher but they still looked good in the Ferrari for years because it was always a great car.
if mclaren used team orders as well as ferrari in 1999 then they still would have won the championship. barrichello and irvine were nowhere near schumachers level so teamate comparisons are pretty much irrelevent. what about hamilton misleading the stewards in 2009? hardly champions behaviour that,
109.C Sorry bit lost about the discussion about the past.Mainly because Michael Schumacher was mentioned all the time.Nobody should be kidding but you cannot be 7 times WC by accident.MS will go in history as the only driver with 100 wins. And as recent as Monte Carlo 2012 he has shown what he can do.And I was certainly no fan of MS in his first career.
Yes it had better reliability, which is a big part of being the best car but obviously wasn't slow, Irvine won 4 races in it. As you say he was number 1 for 1/2 the season but still just 2 points off the title - Team orders in Monaco alone would have given him the title. Kovalainen has been competitive with all his team-mates other than Hamilton, funny that. He's as good as Barrichello or Irvine.
This comment was removed because it broke the house rules. Explain
1999 ferrari was slow, just had better reliability irvine was number 1 for over half the season and still didnt take the title. you are just making things up now and claiming them as facts, quite funny really. when was barrichello told to move over for schumacher in 2000? name one race please. kovalainen was just rubbish, thats why he was 7th.
Hamilton didn't do any spying, he just raced the car he had, which wasn't the best and won the title, of course that's not tainted at all. It's ironic you think I'm biased given you believe whenever Schumacher won it was driver skill (even when his team-mate also did very well) but when Hamilton won it was just the car (even when his team-mate was nowhere). That's clear bias and ignoring facts.
You're confusing facts with your incorrect opinions. Barrichello was not allowed to finish ahead of Schumacher as the clear No. 2 driver in his team and was not a great driver anyway. In 1999 Irvine was 2 points from World Champion and would have won easily if he'd been Ferrari's No. 1 driver all season - says it all. By your argument Kovalainen should have finished 2nd too if he had the best car.
c no he wouldnt, if the car was better than the mclaren then he would have won more races and finished 2nd in the title but it wasn't, the fact that hakkinen and coulthard were 2nd and 3rd with 4 and 3 wins apiece shows the mclaren was the faster car. the difference was made by schumachers immense talent. face ACTUAL facts.
The 2007 and 2008 McLaren certainly weren't the quickest cars, what's your evidence for that? Like I said Hamilton's team-mate finished 7th the year he won. Hamilton made an average car a winner because he's a great driver and team spying has nothing to do with the drivers and is not relevant. Schumacher purposely rammed Hill off the track so Hill wouldn't be World Champion - that is cheating.
Gary, what matters is facts, not made up nonsense. As I said Barrichello was on the podium in 9 of the 13 races he finished in 2000, 4th in the others and actually he was just 11 points behind Coulthard in 3rd and 20 behind Hakkinen. Had he been the team Number One he would probably have been world champion. The evidence shows that the Ferrari was the quicker car over a race distance in 2000.
