@James - I couldn't agree more!! Sometimes I find the FIA/ race stewards biased.... for example last season (and at times this season) certain drivers like Hamilton received much stronger penalties than others. And if Maldonado wants to bump into other cars then perhaps he should re-think his career path..... maybe demolition derby's!!
Well said Perez, about time somebody said it. Maldonado is only there because of his sponsorship. All credit to him for getting his first win, but i think its safe to say he will NEVER win a championship. Hamilton last year was penalised here and there for tiny mistakes, alot of them maldonado was involved. FIA, need to re-think there penalty system, before maldonado gets someone bad injured.
I was surprised to see Maldonado go off that easy. That guy is a danger to the other drivers. Last year he intentionally hit Hamilton after qualifying and was not penalised. What Perez said was true and i feel its only a matter of time till Maldonado seriously injures another driver. The season is exciting, but Mclaren need to step it up because they are letting a real talent down!
@Steven - I completely agree with you there! Its just a complete shame... especially after the season he had last year and now its McLaren that are going down hill :-/ He also deserves better support from some of the fans too.May I also add that Maldonaldo should have had a harsher punishment than just a 10,000 euro fine.... thats just pocket money! Everything that Perez said about him was true!
@F1Snake92 - I totally agree with you. Lewis has been magnificent this season. He looks a fast, matured and complete driver - who should be close to if not at the top of the championship - but Mclaren have let him down. Poor pit stops and no meaningful car upgrades. Its disappointing to watch and i also dont understand what people have against Lewis: I think Lewis deserves better team support
I think people are beginning to sit up and take notice of Mark Webber now ''Not bad for a No2 ' Not bad indeed Mark infact I am starting to believe you could win the World Championship.Further more I think we are now looking at a new Nigel Mansell think about it.He drives flat out like Mansell he says what he feels Mansell he has escaped unhurt from dangerous situations ie Rocket Man at Valencia
Poor Hamilton gets back on track and McLaren are starting to fall behind.... can he ever win! Also I cannot see what some people have against Lewis... he's an amazing driver and is doing great this year, I feel McLaren are letting him and Jenson down though. Give Hamilton a good car with the way he's performing this year and I reckon he could be almost unstoppable!!!
Silverstone was once a place in the calendar to hold a Grand Prix the British Grand Prix it has now become a social event. We never used to pay #100 pounds + to get in a program fifteen quid,Six pound for a roll no the public used to come just for the race!It has now become like Henley Ascot Wimbledon etc and we are hooked! Big credit must go to Race Boss Richard Phillips.
That must have been the most boring race of the year. It was good but not what we have become accustomed to. The dog slow Ferarri went out to a five second lead and held it to near the end. I'de advise them to stick with the slow car; it seems to work. It is strange that McLaren aren't on the pace. I expect Hamilton to come back into contention and stay at McLaren.
@ 117, Alonso was just 6.5s in front of his team mate who is considered a sub-par driver...Don't get me wrong here, I do agree Alonso is a good driver, a great one, BUT Ferrari is not a second to any other car - at least in the last couple of races... :)
She small gap that team mates of the big four had this GP, to me it shows the small difference that drivers make, compared to tires. Ferrari 6.5s, RedBull 4.8s, Lotus 6.8s. Everything is tires: tires vs weather, tires vs circuit specifics, tires vs temperature. In my view tires count for 50%, car for another 30%, driver for the remaining 20%. IMO
McLaren need to up their game and stop making stupid animations and focus on what they should be doing. I understand that you have to keep the sponsor happy but look at the amount of stuff the McLaren drivers have to do outside of driving the car!Webber to Ferrari at the end of the season and Hamilton to bunk down with Vettel at RB. McLaren are becoming far too ruled by the sponsors.
Ferrari is becoming impressive despite all the talks about an under performing car,Alonso was on pole, was 2nd, Massa 4th.Alonso appears to be the best in F1 this year. The Lotuses are becoming ominous ,wonder what will happen in the later part of the season. We need to watch out for them!
Alonso drove a great race and its a shame he couldn't pick up the win. Ferrari let him down on tyre strategy as normal. Massa also drove surprisingly well and I hope ferrari can give him a car to get on the podium with later in the year.Webber drove well and was the only one in a position to capitalise on ferrari's mistake, so good job by him too.
@120. Wow. Just wow. Missed the point again! There was a team behind designing the car in all seasons. That win in the Torro Rosso was, unfortunatly, a one-off in the grand scheme - wet weather, for which at that race that car was bet set up for. People need to chill a little, I'm NOT saying Vettel don't have it in him. I'm saying he hasn't achieved it yet.
