maybe spoilt brat was a bit harsh, but you do have to wonder why, Christian Horner said after the British Grand Prix last year, that they ordered Mark Webber to hold-station behind Vettel, because they would have crashed into each other.
@62 Red_5Given MW's age why would they offer a 3 or 4 year contract, that would make no sense, it isn't necessarily an indication of his ability. Who else would do better than Mark in the number 2 car? The dynamics of the team play a part just as much I'd say and shoving Lewis in there for example may not necessarily work better.Dominated by Seb last 2 seasons, can't quite agree with that one.
@ 72 I think you'll find Scottish folk are the easiest to get on with, it is normally english people with that attitude that puts Scottish peoples backs up. For example David Coulthard would be far easier to talk to and be more fun on a night out than the ever moody and boring Damon Hill.
I am trying to work out why we embrace the Aussies but not so much the Scots ie Andy Murray Mark Webber is it the lack of smiling from the Scot's whereas the Aussies are always having ago at our cricket. Are the Aussies warmer to get next too whereas the Scot's like their own space.Sir Alex Ferguson is OK a winner but would you want to hug him.Is it the accent take Kenny Dalgliesh. I just don't kno
Mark Webber has become as close as you can get to one of us with a pub just down the road from Silverstone a no nonsense attitude a proper racer a warm smile and yet he hails from Australia. Well sometime ago another Aussie warmed our hearts drove for McLaren andwas another good fellow Alan Jones. This is Mark's big chance to be World Champion this year sticking to the car and team he knows Good Lu
I am so thrilled and delighted to see Mark Webber doing so well this year. I always knew he could do it. OK so I am Australian and probably biaised but I am truly thrilled for him. Keep up the good work Mark. Aussie Aussie Aussie Aus Aus AusLots of love and luck to you xxxx
Pleased for Mark as I think he is just as good as Vettel. Shame the seat is open for Hamilton however, would love to see him with a team capable of winning!
Good for you Mark! You are a really nice guy and an great ambassador for F1. I hope you have told Red Bull you will not play second fiddle to Vettle. After 2013? RB are unlikely to have the best car by then. You would be great at that point for three years with a team in the process of coming to the front of the grid. Less pay maybe, but greater satisfaction and the chance to win
Good for Mark. Just hope he doesn't regret not moving to Ferrari. I think Ferrari will keep Massa for 2013 now. Then see if they can get Vettel for 2014, if they cant then maybe they will move up Perez who is in the Ferrari young driver program.
So much for Andrew Bensons dream and speculation that Hamilton had a chance to join Neweys ultra succesful team. Red Bull do not want Lewis Hamilton, period. They want a guy with brains, who can race and does not get column inches because of another idiot statement or criticising his own team. Well done Mark Webber. (And no, Vettel is not going to Ferrari in '14. Why would he want to leave Newey.)
63. darthcompo Yes you missed one season.Mark and Seb are teammates since 2009.And Seb was better in year 1 as well.4wins to 2 , 2nd to 4th in WC and if i remember correctly something like 14 to 3 in Quali. So I would not call Seb a spoilt brat like dude did.
its difficult to win the title when the team you drive for only have eyes for the other guy. i think Mark should have waited until later in the year when he could make sure he would still have a chance to win, Red Bull will now start to sabotage his races from now on to ensure spoilt brat Vettel finishes above him.
Outclassed for 2 seasons? Did i miss a season?Yes Vettel outclassed him in 2011 but no one really challenged him last year did they, as for 2010 how can someone that had the chance to win the title up until the final race be outclassed?
Sounds like Red Bull are waiting for someone, question is who with only offering a extension for 2013 and not a new contract, while i do like Webber you still have to feel that some other drivers could do a better job, Vettel has out classed Webber for the previous 2 seasons
Bang goes my prediction that he'd join Ferrari and Hamilton would join RB!
