Let's face it peeps, the Pirelli tyres are junkF1 should be about raw driver talent (and pushing the car design envelope), not establishing who's the best conservationist - if you want that, go hug a tree.Pirelli have turned F1 into a lottery - shame on them; and the clowns that continue to allow them to ruin the sport.
My last comment was made in light of modern F1, which rewards tire nursing, and not outright flat-out driving. Mediocre drivers are already rewarded for not being attacking drivers who make numerous adjustments to steering, throttle, brake inputs. Do some sponsor-backed rookies "apparently" doing well come to mind? F1, itself, has become mediocre. No point arguing.
215. L8br8er Just correcting an earlier poster who said remove TC, when TC isn't used in the 1st place. For argument sake: if TC is reintroduced, it will benefit the likes of LH than the average driver. Quicks will still be quicks. TC would just prolong the tires of the drivers aggressive on the steering/throttle/brakes = wheel spin, lock, heat, deg, etc. Unlike 2008, LH started 2nd; ended 12th.
Apparently not as far off as Mercedes - at least today anyway lol
The tires are getting in the way now. good race though, nice to see the points tighten up.
@232 I am choking on the humble pie. I'm about to throw up!
@228 ArbitrationHow's the humble pie going down? What are you serving it with, a dose of reality? On topic, great race today, congratulations to all 3 podium finishers.
So funny how many ppl make fools of themselves by putting up stupid comments before a race. Hahahaa!
@228How on earth did you think that. It was obvious to anyone who follows the sport that Mercedes would struggle - having said that they struggled far worse than expected. They are just no hopers for actual race wins at the moment - that is obvious.
@227 racerbumber cars???hmm jensen is a great driver , technically one of the best when given a car that can compete , he may not be a risk taker like lewis but he is as good as him if not better, anyone can put their boot to the floor and barge other cars outta the way .your comments just show ignorance of the sport.
I think Mercedes can win. Last year NR started 6th and finished 7th. Mercedes do not have significant tyre deg at this track. It's hard to overtake in Spain. Even if others have superior race pace where are they going to use it? Your speed is limited by the car in front.Let's see if I'm eating humble in 2 hours time.
More like JB is a hell of a long way off. Should give up with F1 and try his hand at bumber cars or something. He was never any good anyway, just over hyped spice boy.
221. dane"Your average idol"I never said he was my idol. I was trying to explain the technicality of the importance of a driver. Feedback is very important but a driver can give all the feedback possible and if the Engineers cannot translate that into a faster car it means nout. Why did LH leave? Maybe he thought the Engineering team were just not cutting the mustard.Adrian Newey is the king.
#210 - keep on deluding yourself. I would bet my life that if LH (or FA/KR/SV - even FM and MW) walked into McLaren's garage, sat in the car, did all what's done in re pre-season testing etc, they would NOT have the "dog" of a car they do now. The driver, his INTUITIVE knowledge and SKILL of the car and how to set it up IS the KEY that unlocks the efforts of the team as a whole. JB/NR lack it.
It is touching how many people believe that a driver can make a huge difference on the track. My opinion is that given the fragility of the tyres there is no longer scope for a driver to push the car over its limits. What is now important is the driver clearly communicates any car issues to the team and the team know how to resolve them.
Come on guys, when was telling the truth whinging?
In my humble,Mclaren need to bite the bullet and consider driver changes. Raikonnen is up for grabs. Button is an amiable dude, but racing is about speed. I don't see what whitmarsh is doing wrong. He needs drivers to push the car to its very limit.
@220. Perez had no problem getting into the top ten, i always said that "no grip" will be found out this year. Perez is about to bring the pain to your average idol. All jenson does is complain, it's actually cringe worthy listening to him spouting the same dry dribble of "i got no grip" or "calm him down" lol.Pathetic
