@176 Merc are a German owned and funded team... the happen to be based in the UK because the bought out Braun GP! They Race under the German Flag and the German National anthem gets played when they win... what’s so British about that.
Yeah, but at least the price differential and cheap servicing can justify a FIAT purchase. As for the rest of their stable - DOH! Give me a Mclaren instead or an Ultima 720. Chrysler - why FIAT, why? I've read that FIAT industrial is actually quite good at building really big stuff.
The Fiat/Ferrari/Maserati stable are well known for their hopeless reliability, after all the Lancia brand was killed off in the UK in 1993 is now set to be axed totally soon. Now Fiat is saddled with funding the lousy Chrysler brand as well as the money draining Ferrari F1 team. I see no such issues over at Merc.
@ladysmith, the FIAT Panda 4x4 is actually a brilliant little car with a clever viscous transfer system. Much better and more reliable than a Fez! But hey, those 'anti Silverstone GP fans' who drive Fiestas in the Rhonda wouldn't know...............
@178Unable to handle logic and reason? What's the answer? Yes run away! However I am able to stick to the subject at hand - Williams are facing a very bad season with a driver who could be a sound number 2 expected to be a team leader, and his teammate capable of 3 or 4 good races a year at best
I honestly fear for Williams. Once a team is all about getting pay-for-the-seat drivers the outcome has never been positive generally speaking. It seems to be an overall indicator of the culture of a team where it's just about going through the daily duties rather than a drive and a passion to win. Williams used to have that, but not now. Sadly they're just making up the grid numbers these days.
177. UK-Minardi-FanNo its because i disagree with you and you don't like it. Its the same anytime anyone voices a different opinion to you and your troll friend.Bigsplash just because a team is based in Britain it doesn't make them British.Anyway i'm bored of talking to the likes of you two so this conversation is now over.
@175Your attack on Lewis, and other things, in this thread gives the impression you hate everything that Britain has contributed to F1. And the fact you have stoked a row based on him - on a thread about Sirotkin - has led to you being regarded as a troll.
Not very bright either. We all know Merc is a British F1 team in reality. Lewis hardly flies to Germany to use the simulator, catch up on design, engineering, power units, aero and the track team. Oh yes, that all happens right here troll.
174. UK-Minardi-FanI never said hate i said dislike there is a big difference. Im not saying there is anything wrong with Mercedes being in Brackley i was just replying to Bigsplash's comment about me supporting an Italian team when he supports a German one.
@171 If you think Silverstone has poor facilities it shows how little you are aware of it these days! You hate our only F1 driver, speak badly of our main track, support an Italian team - the UK could well do without this sort of attitude amongst it's F1 fans. And it's thanks to Mercedes that over 1,000 people have jobs in Brackley - think about that.
172. LadysmithThe German company might make reliable f1 cars but they also make very boring and mundane road cars.
A New Year and the gloves are off! A German team based in Brackley, two years time it could be owned by an American team. At least the German team don't make a fiat panda. Maybe that red thing made in Italy might show a bit of reliability next season and make a fist of it.Williams for a very poor year IMHO
170.Big SplashIts in a bad location with terrible facilities and is badly run hence why they are dropping off the calendar. Your British and support a German team that is labelled brackley lol
