Long-serving Armagh GAA county secretary Patrick Nugent has departed from the position.
Earlier this week, Nugent is understood to have informed clubs that he was no longer the county's main administrator after being removed from the role.
The reason for Nugent's exit is thought to centre on the inability to continue to pay his salary which was funded by both Croke Park and the Armagh board.
Nugent could not be contacted for comment on Thursday.
There are reports that Nugent offered to continue in the post in a voluntary capacity but that this had been declined.
Nugent has served as Armagh secretary since February 1995 after previously holding the role of county public relations officer.
The Keady-based official hails from a strong GAA background with his father Patrick senior having served as county chairman for several years.
