Don't expect open football - Cavanagh

Tyrone star Sean Cavanagh expects a return to "packed defences" during the championship despite the high-scoring nature of the recent Football League.

"I think whenever teams are fearful of losing on a bigger day, they naturally will retreat a little bit more and there will be more emphasis on defensive systems," said Cavanagh ahead of Sunday's Ulster Football Championship opener against Down at Healy Park.

Down player Kevin McKernan says Monaghan's emergence to win the Ulster title last summer will give other counties belief that they can lift the provincial crown.
