MacRory Cup winners St Patrick's Cavan suffered a heartbreaking 1-14 to 1-11 Hogan Cup semi-final defeat by Kerry school Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne.

St Pat's looked to have secured victory as they led 1-10 to 1-9 deep into injury-time at Nenagh but a Seamus Ó Muircheartaigh free ensured extra-time.

Brendan Argue's goal put Pat's ahead but Cathal Bambury netted to move the Kerry side 1-6 to 1-4 up by the break.

Cavan fought back to lead late in the game before being caught.

O Muircheartaigh had been replaced on 58 minutes but was reintroduced to slot the game-saving free from just inside the 45 metre line.

Sean O Gairbhia, Conchuir O Geibheannaigh (0-2) and O Muircheartaigh hit the Kerry school's points in extra-time as Cavan were held scoreless.

St Pat's also had full-forward Ben Conaty red card late in the first period of extra-time.

Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne will meet Roscommon CBS in the final in two weeks.
