Ashington professional Ken Ferrie has revealed his delight at sealing qualification for July's Open Golf Championship at Royal St George's.
The 32-year-old sealed his place with a seven under finish at the Sunningdale qualifier on Monday.
"For a British player it's the biggest tournament, just being part of it is a big thing" Ferrie told BBC Newcastle.
"I haven't played an Open or major since 2006, it's been a long time so I'll be glad to be back in the swing."
Colin Montgomerie is among the big names still seeking entry to the Open, having hit a six-over-par total at the event won by Hartlepool's Graeme Storm.
"This was the last chance to qualify," Ferrie added.
"There are a couple of mini Order of Merits and spots on the European but they're hard to come by."
The Open takes place between the 14-17 July.
