Wales' Becky Brewerton beat her lowest career score in a Ladies European Tour event by two shots with an eight-under-par 63 at the Finnair Masters.

But the sublime round was not enough to secure victory as she finished tied for fourth in Helsinki, four strokes behind winner Carloine Hedwall of Sweden.

"It was a par 71, so that makes it look a bit better," said Brewerton, who was nine off the lead at the start of play.

The 28-year-old had an eagle and six birdies in a faultless putting display.

"I played, from tee to green, very similar to yesterday," she added. "I holed some putts.

"Yesterday I was struggling to get up to the hole on the mid range putts, the 15 footers and above.

"Today it was almost a bit like matchplay. I thought, well if I'm going to have any shot at all I'm going to have to shoot a low score and I just got every putt up to the hole.

"I've been choosing good lines this week but they dropped today because they were up there."

Brewerton's next tournament will be the Evian Masters in France from 21-24 July, before then heading to Carnoustie in Scotland for the Richo Women's British Open.

She said: "I'd quite like to go into Evian right now the way I'm playing but I'm going to play Carnoustie next week in preparation for the British.

"I'm going to Killeen Castle for a short game lesson. It's a completely different game at the Evian and British

"Evian is an American style course and you've got to hit it as low as possible at Carnoustie. I've got some stuff to work on because I am hitting it quite high at the moment."
