Jamie Donaldson is to play his first major in America when the Welsh golfer tees-off at the US PGA Championship.
Donaldson, who has fallen out of the world's top 100, was offered a place despite dropping from 98th to 102nd after finishing 45th at the Irish Open.
The 35-year-old has only played one major in the 2006 Open at Hoylake but will play in Atlanta when the final major of the year starts on 11 August.
Donaldson told Twitter: "Buzzing just got in the USPGA, yippeeeeee!"
The Welsh number one, who has yet to win on the European Tour in well over 200 starts, is a former colleague of England pair Luke Donald and Paul Casey in the world amateur team championships.
Donaldson, who has endured an injury-plagued career due to a back problem, has made 10 other attempts to qualify for The Open Championship.
He has enjoyed two top ten finishes on the European Tour this year and won three Challenge Tour events since turning professional in 2000.
