Windermere's Simon Edwards has ruled out his chances of catching leader Hugo Santos after the third round of the PGA European Pro Championship in Bulgaria.

Edwards, 40, was just two strokes behind Santos on the approach to the 17th but suffered a double bogey to all but end his hopes of challenging.

"At nine-under, I'd be looking at him," Edwards said after finishing on two-under for the round with a card of 70.

"But not at seven-under, that's probably too much ground to make up."

After the first day's play Edwards, who currently lies fourth, had been just two shots behind joint leaders Hugo Santos and Ben Collier who carded flawless five-under-par 67s.

Santos continues to lead after he carded a three-under-par round of 69 and a three-round total of 11-under to go two strokes clear of the field.
