The Ballyclare golfer posted four birdies, a bogey and a double bogey at the second during his closing 18 holes.
Tom Lewis won on 21 under, with Peter Lawrie best of the Irish players in tied sixth on 16 under following a 66.
Padraig Harrington and Shane Lowry finished on 15 under, with Damien McGrane five under.
Gary Murphy was last of the players to make the cut on sveen over.
Rafael Cabrera-Bello was second on 19 under, two shots behind Englishman Lewis, who recently turned professional after playing in the Walker Cup.
