Leading Scottish golf coach Adam Hunter has died from leukaemia at the age of 48, two years after being first diagnosed with the disease.
Hunter, who coached Paul Lawrie to the Open title in 1999, passed away on Friday at Glasgow's Beatson Centre.
He spent six years as a Scottish Golf Academy coach and was part-time head coach of Scotland Under-16s.
Douglas Connon of the Scottish Golf Union said: "Adam's untimely death leaves a massive gap in golf coaching."
And Connon, the organisation's chairman, added: "Adam was a consistent and straight man who set us all an example by his personal behaviour and how to live life.
"I am heartbroken as he was my friend. Our thoughts are with his lovely, caring wife, Caroline, and his family."
His coaching skills were welcomed by professional and amateur players alike.
Among the European Tour players he helped were Stephen Gallacher, Alastair Forsyth and Gary Orr and Scotland's leading female professional, Catriona Matthew.
Hunter also brought his talents to the world of broadcasting. He was part of BBC Radio Scotland's commentary team for a number of years, most recently at the Scottish Open and The Open in 2010.
Sportsound anchor Richard Gordon said: "I only really got to know Adam once he had moved into coaching and particularly through his work with Paul Lawrie.
"He became a good friend and moved effortlessly into broadcasting, adding greatly to our coverage of the Scottish Open and Open Championship down the years.
"Not only could he get inside the minds of the golfers, explaining thought processes and what faced them from a technical point of view, he had an endless stream of stories from his time on the European Tour and had us in stitches many times.
"He loved a good wind-up and was always quick to pounce on any of the guys who made a slip-up, but always in a good-natured way.
"I had kept in close contact with Paul and knew Adam wasn't in a good place, but news of his death still came as a devastating blow.
"I simply cannot believe he has gone and my thoughts and best wishes go to his wife Caroline and the girls."
