The venue for next year's Irish Open has still to be finalised even though the European Tour announced its schedule for 2012 on Monday.
Killarney has hosted the tournament over the last two years although there has been speculation that it will be staged in the Dublin area in 2012.
Carton House, near Maynooth, is being mentioned as a possible location for the 28 June to 1 July event.
The Kildare venue's Montgomerie course staged the event in 2005 and 2006.
The tournament remains without a sponsor but with Rory McIlroy having already guaranteed his participation at next year's event, the European Tour may believe that a move back to a Dublin venue would help to attract a major financial backer.
A Carton House spokesman last week said the club "would throw its hat into the ring" for the event.
There has been speculation that the event could be staged at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland in 2013.
