Michael Hoey is six behind leader Lee Westwood after firing a second-round 68 at the Nordea Masters in Stockholm.
Hoey carded six birdies and two bogeys as he showed a welcome return to form by finishing on six under par.
The Northern Irishman had missed four out of five cuts since winning the Hassan Trophy in March.
Gareth Maybin also made the cut after firing a seven-birdie 67 to improve to three under while Westwood leads by three after a superb 64.
Shane Lowry missed the cut on three over after a disappointing 76 while County Down-based Simon Thornton and Damien McGrane both exited on four over par after respective rounds of 74 and 73.
Westwood's 64 left him three shots ahead of his fellow Ryder Cup player Peter Hanson , Spain's Carlos Del Moral and Lloyd Saltman, who matched the Englishman's eight-under round.
Richard Sterne, Maarten Lafeber, Michael Jonzon, Emiliano Grillo and Ignacio Garrido were all a further shot back on eight under.
Hoey's win in Morocco propelled him up the Ryder Cup rankings with his victory at last autumn's Dunhill Links Championship also counting in the points list.
However, his disappointing recent form has dropped him to 16th in the European Cup standings with only the top five guaranteed places at Medinah.
