Lets stick to golf talk.Sure the American crowd will be loud and roudy...but thats what happens when you get a bunch of people who are ignorant to golf and drinking all day. Thankfully they will never be as bad as English football fans...if they were I doubt any of the players would set foot near the course.
#76 I doubt he cares about a knighthood...it means nothing. Its like an award no one really cares about.
As a European we should expect nothing less than a hostile reception - that's the advantage of having home support - let's just hope the players behave and don't repeat their disgraceful celebrations when a match was still in progress in 1999, scenes like this from the players are worse than what any fan can do.
On the subject of Ryder Cup captains - why did Tony Jacklin never receive a knighthood? A two time major winner and four time Ryder Cup captain who transformed the European team and in many ways made the Ryder Cup what it is today
To ensure the Ryder Cup continues in the spirit of its founder, a friendly match. Bad unsportman bahavour from the US Crowd (examples hope you die of Cancer) will result in 1 point penalty from the US team Same rules will apply to the European team (though never you such callous remarks from Euro fans)
Not happy with quotes coming from US players. Snedecker wants to "beat their brains in", others want to "kill 'em". All good tub thumping some say, but this was the mindless attitude that meant Brookline+Kiawah Island got out of hand. On this side of the pond we grin and laughter it off, some US fans however just get too whipped up and out of control. The players need to show some responsibility.
Europe 738m population vs USA 311m population. We should win!
kcwhattrick - at least we send fans round the globe. The winners in US sports are the world champions without going out of there country! Anyway most flyover state yanks (and big percentage of coastal ones to )wouldn't know where europe was anyway. The classic is england in london comment!!
It's a pity the English football team dont play with the same passion. It cant be the money as golfers are millionaires also.
kcwhattrick - what a surprise that these comments were about the boorish behaviour of fans at the Ryder Cup when that's what the article was about - the Ryder Cup. Saying that British football fans are louts is about as relevant as saying Yanks attack wedding parties with drones and have slaughtered (directly or indirectly) hundreds of thousands of people outside their borders.
Shooter McGavin speaking of the unruly crowd attracted to golf by Happy Gilmore: "DAMN you people this is GOLF!"
It amazes me the way people are taken in by the hype surrounding this biennial yawn. The event has been hijacked by Sky and the mere fact that it is shown on pay per view television tells me it's just a cash cow and nothing else.We know the major count for Woods and Nicklaus but who cares for their Ryder cup exploits?
Love the comments about American fans and their boorish behavior at the Ryder Cup. What continent is known for sports hooligans? What continent routinely sends some of the worst sports fans around the globe to represent their countries? What continent is well known for having fans' passports confiscated before international matches?Face it. Euros could do with some lessons in proper manners.
If Olazabal accepts this gift, David Love111 has handed the first round of the Ryder Cup mind games to Europe. Check out impresscoaching.co.uk
40.ToryBasher "Nobody Cares"Er - except the golfers - so why are you here if you don't care about golf? Perhaps you could inform the BBC about all the things that you are interested in, so that the website is made bespoke for you and also the radio to ONLY play your musical likes?
I really fear the worst for this years RC, all the press & media are talking about are the behaviour of the fans. Over the years the conduct of the RC & SC have deteriorated to the point were players are getting involved in cheer leading the crowd.
Mcilory will be gutted at missing out on all that money. Will that affect his game? I've been saying the Europeans will win at a canter, but now i'm having doubts. Glad Montys out of the picture though, that 'old boy' has hung around long enough.
@60" Posh spice was at one game in LA and was completley ignored over here she would have terrible stick from the away fans""Terrible stick" is just one of the many insults that would be thrown her way...
The "Get in the hole" and "Mash potato" merchants are fine as they aren't making noise during a players swing. Its irritating, but the USPGA and European tour do not eject these people and are therefore actually encouraging this behaviour at courses. Its all fine as long as it doesn't overstep the mark.Go Europe.
