Graeme McDowell finished his US PGA challenge on a high note as he carded a 66 to end tied 12th on two under and eight shots behind winner Jason Dufner.

The 2010 US Open champion followed a bogey at the second with five straight birdies before dropping another stroke at the ninth to turn in 32.

McDowell had three further birdies including one at the last but dropped two shots on his back nine.

Darren Clarke slumped to a closing 80 which left him on 16 over.

The 2011 Open champion finished last of the qualifiers for the closing two rounds - three strokes more than second-last Gary Woodland.

Shane Lowry finished on seven over after a closing 71.
