McGeady plays down chances despite 65

Derry man Michael McGeady says there is a long way to go in the Northern Ireland Open despite his impressive first-round 65 at Galgorm Castle.

McGeady's round left him a stroke behind leaders Germany's Bernd Ritthammer and England's James Ruth.

"I try not to think ahead and it's one of the things I really struggle with," said the 35-year-old after his round.

Favourite and tournament ambassador Michael Hoey was six off the pace after his opening one-under 70.
