Graeme McDowell fired a two-under-par 68 in Friday's second round of the St Jude Classic in Memphis.
The former US Open winner from Portrush started at the 10th and picked up shots at 16, one and three with his only bogey coming at the fourth.
McDowell is three under, nine shots behind overnight leader Ben Crane in a weather-disrupted second round.
Darren Clarke, who is three over, had not started his second round when bad weather stopped play on Friday.
Padraig Harrington is two under and was only on the second hole when play was halted at TPC Southwind.
It is McDowell's first tournament since finishing joint 62nd in the Players Championship last month.
The Northern Irishman opted to miss the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth to spend time with his pregnant wife.
