Does the "Woods factor" mean that when he retires US TV audiences will fall, revenue to the PGA will fall and prize money will fall?If so, great, as then the money grabbers who desert the European tour to become journeymen earning megabucks in the USA, may think twice, and the result may be more great players staying full time on the European Tour.
Why all the focus on sport at the minute - golf/football are only games played by overpaid so called stars. In the general scheme of things not very important.Come on HYS give us something important to comment on!
Oh I've just figured it out... Your one of them troll wind up numptys... Explains all your ridiculous posts.I'm quite happy being me thanks. You carry on posting your nonsense I've stopped reading it now
314.bigeasyQuotes from your last post: "monkey see monkey", "take your espn job and shove it", "we've got rid of the idiots", "you must be deaf"All you post on here is racist aggression. You obviously are an angry person with issues. I hope you sort your rage out before you go too far. Please seek help.
If you've never heard of the saying monkey see monkey do you've either never lived in Manchester or your deaf. It's been commonly used all my life meaning little kids pick up stupid habits of adults. So James or Walter Mitty take your espn job and shove it. I can't wait for the day the audience figures drop through the floor... It means we've got rid of the idiots :@)
#308 jamesmathewThat'll be the 2 times he missed the cut in that period then? :-) Not really statistically significant.Actually, I find myself more or less agreeing with you on this james, which is something I'd never thought I'd do all those years ago when this blog was half decent.
311.mmurph24Well put. Nick Faldo was a disgrace off the course but we all loved to watch him on the course. I used to tell my kids do not look up to Nick Faldo because he was a bad person but I said to watch him golf & learn from him there. Like Woods, he is an awful role model but a great golfer to watch. Woods\Faldo same same.
The point is not about loving Mr Woods but to acknowledge a lot of people watch or play the game because of him, he made the game what it is today, To deny that then you are clearly letting hate control your opinion, Not all truly great sports stars are good role models – in fact is hard to find ones that are, Tiger is what he is but accept his impact because there is no argument
309.powerhitterExcuse me but how dare you to assume you know me and then to call me a liar! Please contain your aggression. This is a friendly forum discussing TW. Can we keep this amicable please?
Jamesmathew, if you're to be believed you've had an incredible number of jobs. However, as someone who remembers you from old on these blogs, I know that you're talking nonsense to pass a boring day at work.Where's Don247 when you need him?
I worked for ESPN in the states from 1998-2005 and we noticed that on the rare occasion that Tiger missed the cut that viewings from the first 2 days would drop dramatically even though it was the last 2 days of the event. When Tiger was in the hunt on the final day views went through the roof. More people watched the final days of the majors in 2000 than the previous soccer world cup final!
Myself and my two sons notice and enjoy golf still without Woods, you even sometimes get to see other players on TV coverage. Now with Woods back the US golf feed (which Sky slavishly use for most tournaments) will be even worse with maybe a couple of his shot, one from another US golfer and an advert, replicated over again for several hours!!! Bring back BBC golf but with Radar on course!
@big easyI live in the North of England and have never heard that saying... However whilst playing I have caught loads of players cheating from club bounce ups to national and county championships- it's rife and usually because people don't know the rules but unfortunately it's more deliberate!TC - nothing about spitting in the rules, and loads if players do it
Jamesmathew. 282. You clearly have never read The Rules of Golf. You asked me to name something Woods as done that Faldo hadn't, never have I seen Faldo spitting on greens, tees or anywhere else. To bring race into it is nothing short of pathetic.
This comment was removed because it broke the house rules. Explain
Stuff the media get off your arse, s and go play or watch some decent amateurs, doing it for the love of it. In 20 years playing golf i caught one person cheating, since tiger you can catch 5 a year.... Monkey see monkey do... And no it's not me being racist it's a popular saying in the north of England. :@)
The world is full of fantasists , there are quite a few on here just messaging utter tosh for arguments sake. Who cares if he's half black, who cares if he's a smashing chap at home with his kids, nobody. What we care about is the game and he brings it into disrepute more than any other golfer for better or worse . if you like high fives and woohoos good for you! Just go do it some place else
I carried the scoreboards for Tigers group in the 2005 British Open in St Andrews on the final day and even though it was a hugely pressurised situation and Monty coming second so the crowd were all for Tiger...Tiger was a perfect gentleman and even chatted me a few times. He gave me his glove at the end. A very nice person.
