Ballyclare man Gareth Maybin is eight shots off the lead after shooting a second-round 73 at the South African Open Championship in Johannesburg.
After his opening one-under 71, Maybin moved to four under after three early birdies on Friday but a double bogey and three bogeys halted his progress.
Maybin's level-par total leaves him sharing 34th spot, eight behind leader England's Andy Sullivan.
Peter Lawrie missed the cut by one shot after finishing on three over.
Dubliner Lawrie had matched Maybin's opening 71 but his six bogeys on Friday saw him slumping to a 76 which left him outside the cut mark.
Like Maybin, Lawrie failed to retain his European Tour card last season and was unable to regain his full Tour status at the Qualifying School in November.
Maybin received a sponsors' invitation to compete in South Africa this week.
Sullivan leads Charl Schwartzel by one shot with Denmark's Lasse Jensen and South Africans Colin Nel and JJ Senekal a further stroke back.
