Michael Hoey fired a closing 71 at the Qatar Masters on Saturday to end the tournament in a tie for 52nd.

The five-times European Tour winner from Belfast carded two birdies and a bogey in a steady final round in Doha to leave him on three under.

South Africa's Branden Grace won by one shot on 19 under.

Hoey opened with a 71 and followed up with rounds of 69 and 74.

He is playing his third event of the new season after failing to make the cut in his two previous tournaments.

The Galgorm Castle touring professional finished 57th in last year's Race to Dubai.
