Despite shooting a disappointing 75 on the third day, Michael Hoey stayed in contention at the Spanish Open.

The Belfast golfer was three over for his round but is only five shots off the lead jointly held by English duo James Morrison and David Howell.

Hoey remains at two under par and will go out in the fourth last pairing in Barcelona on Sunday.

He played the front nine on two over par and his only birdie was on the 14th hole with a total of five bogeys.
