Stephen Gallacher has pulled out of the PGA Championship at Wentworth with a wrist injury.

The 40-year-old Scot had hoped a cortisone injection would ease the tendonitis that forced him to miss Wednesday's pre-tournament pro-am.

He will be replaced in Thursday's first-round field by 32-year-old Englishman Robert Dinwiddie.

Gallacher, who is ranked 45 in the world, had recorded two top-five PGA finishes in the past five years.

He had been due to partner European Ryder Cup team-mate Lee Westwood and young English prospect Tommy Fleetwood in Thursday's opening round.
