Graeme McDowell is six shots off the pace in the Scottish Open after a disappointing two-over-par 72 in Saturday's third round at Gullane.

The former US Open winner started the day tied second but lies joint 18th on six under going into the final round.

Shane Lowry joins McDowell on six under after also firing a 72 while Michael Hoey's 70 leaves him five under.

Padraig Harrington (70) is four under while England's Daniel Brooks holds a one-shot lead over the field.

McDowell posted bogeys at four, seven and 17, with his only birdie coming at the sixth.
