Colin Montgomerie missed out on his fourth senior major after relinquishing the lead in the Senior Open Championship at Sunningdale.

The Scot, 52, was ahead by two strokes after nine holes of his final round.

However, he had to settle for third behind American Marco Dawson, who won his first senior major on 16-under-par, and German Bernard Langer.

Montgomerie won his second Senior PGA Championship in May and also won the US Senior Open last year.
