Scotland's Martin Laird slipped back to fourth place after the third round of the Barracuda Championship in Nevada.
The 33-year-old, who was second overnight, earned six points on the modified Stableford format with four birdies and two bogeys.
Australia's Greg Chalmers extended his lead to six points with a round that included eight birdies.
The winner will earn over £430,000 and secure a spot at the Open Championship at Royal Troon from 14 July.
Americans Ben Martin and Gary Woodland shared second place with 33 points.
