Northern Ireland golfers Rory McIlroy and Graeme McDowell both posted final rounds of level-par 72 to end the BMW Championship on three under par.
World number three McIlroy carded two birdies and two bogeys in his closing 18 holes at the third of the FedEx Cup play-off events at Carmel, Indiana.
McDowell recorded five birdies and five bogeys and the pair are among those tied for 42nd place.
Dustin Johnson repeated his 2010 success, winning on 23 under par.
The American's nearest challenger was England's Paul Casey, who finished on 20 under, with American Roberto Castro a further three shots behind in third.
McIlroy, who won the tournament in 2012, still has an opportunity to secure the overall FedEx play-offs title which carries a $10m (£7.54m) bonus for the overall winner.
The 27-year-old won last week's Deutsche Bank Championship, his first PGA Tour triumph for 16 months, will be one of the final 30 players to go through to The Tour Championship, which takes place from 22-25 September.
The player with the most points after The Tour Championship will succeed Jordan Spieth as the play-offs winner.
