@55I believe he had lunch with the "goatee"; Jack (the real/undisputed GOAT) had better things to do with his valuable time.Anyway, Rory said all the right things about "your boy", e.g. 'He's an intriguing character. He's thoughtful. He's smart. He reads stuff and educates himself on everything.' However, knowing Tiger's famous tight-fistedness, I'm sure Rory also picked up the tab.
@ Don247 #49:Do you think he enjoyed his 'lunch' with the Goat last week?
If the USGA, sponsors etc remove an established event from Doral, if Show Biz personalities boycott Presidential Inuaguration, and you can't deny modern golf is 'entertainment' then you have to be mega naive to think you can avoid being seen as a political pawn.Anything else is hopeful posturing by the McIlroy camp.

This is a total non story! Why does the British media always have to make many a mountain out a mole hole? Good luck Rory!
Such irony when you consider the large number of times McIlroy chose to do things other than play golf that now he's been physically incapable of playing we might see more of him on the course doing the job for which he has been so handsomely paid.
@21 powerhitterNice to see that you're still 'of sound body and mind'.Regarding Rory, his 'charge sheet' just gets longer and longer with each passing year. What's the betting he'll never win The Masters because of his flaky putting and questionable bouncebackability?(By the way, you're spot on with my sandal size: I've also got big hands ... unlike The Donald!)
Don't see a problem! One fella has golf with another, it's not even newsworthy really! Press trying to make something of nothing really, Rory shouldn't even have had to make the Twitter statement he made.
The BBC left wing agenda at its finest. Yet on the news page there is an item detailing increases to the TV licence fee, no HYS on that one !!!!!!!
ha ha...I see Carter has surreptitiously fixed his apostrophe blunder without acknowledgement of his schoolboy error!what an absolute non-story!...McIlroy/Trump...who cares?!the proposed rule changes...now THERE'S a topic worthy of real discussion...what say you, Carter?or are you too busy flying to Mexico, at our expense, on another jolly?
Wow kai. Such anger. Oh, and such terrible grammar.Honestly mate - if this annoys you; never, and I mean NEVER, read about what is really happening in this world.You'll combust!!
Right wing lies,suggestin that,that golfer(used to like him)just happened to be walking around the golf course and accidently came accros trump.seriously?It was arranged,and il tell you now to suggest that you dont do such things because you dont support someone and their view is more right wing lies.tell you one thing to, i would be goin round playing golf with someone i didnt morally agree with.
Non-story.Now, about the rule changes.David Rickman, R&A executive director of governance says: “In recent history we had big changes in 1952 and then again in 1984 so we have done this sort of thing before” . Hmm, part of golf's cultural problem: these dates NOT recent!Rules:not complex, only written that way;define fair playfacilitate quick progress round course.Easy.
Trump probably beat him...!!
@40 Chopper 115 : Good idea !
