Jodi Ewart Shadoff's strong return from a one-month injury lay-off continued at the LPGA Volvik Championship with a two-under-par 70 in her second round in Michigan.

Shadoff of England sits two shots behind Japan's Nasa Hataoka, who is at nine under, heading into the third day at Travis Pointe Country Club.

England's world number 45 shot a five-under 67 in the first round that had left her one off the pace.

She said she played "really steady".

Hataoka, who lost in a play-off at the Kingsmill Championship last week and is bidding for a first LPGA Tour title, leads after following up her opening, five-under round of 67 with a 68 on Friday.

She holds a one-shot advantage over Australian Minjee Lee, who carded a 69 in the second round.

English duo Bronte Law are tied for sixth, three shots off the pace, after second rounds of 68 and 70 respectively.
