I was at the Dunhill and I have never seen the town of St Andrews so quiet when a tournament was on, and a friend went to Carnoustie and he said it was like an amateur event . Got to blame the Sky sell out, the coverage is awful , the presenters are dreadful and that's the same for every sport they cover, it's cringeworthy.
Joost Luiten and Martin Lafeber are Dutch. Czech pros are rarer beasts, though. How the hell can this post be voted down? It is a statement of fact, not opinion. How can anyone vote down a fact? Christ, we really are in big trouble. No doubt some of these mono-cell brains are the ones who voted for Brexit, to make Britain great again. I truly despair.
There have been more people waiting at my nearest bus stop than I have seen at some events on the European Tour. It is an utter disgrace that there are not more tournaments in England. Looks like from next year there will only be one! Never mind there’s always the Sicilian Open!
@118 My club has 8 junior members, something is going badly wrong
#117 I thought Hoch (the choke) was drive, wedge then miss the 2ft putt type of golfer??🤭🤭
I am a golfer but at my club I am one of the youngsters at 46. No golf on terrestrial tv equates to less kids playing when I was a junior the junior section had around 100 members so the club was thriving due to this. Golf on sky makes it less attainable to the masses and the stars less well known. Most of the players today are robots and have no personality.
I thought the reason Hoch didn't like it here was he thought our links courses weren't proper courses, he preferred drive, wedge putt type golf.
#110 “not all of us are into golf”But you must be, you appear to keep coming onto “golf” HYS to spout rubbish🤔🤔Here’s a thought, don’t like it, don’t read about it, not really a difficult concept..
@114You are quite correct of course. Equally, I'm also correct to point out that the tourney has always been played in England.
@113 I believe it's the British masters and promoted using the Union flag, if I am mistaken I am so very very sorry
Does anyone know why Sky won't simply renew? Given their self appointed champions of golf status you would think they would continue to support golf in England.
@101Come back when these events are counting galleries by the thousand instead of by the hundred and then you might have a valid point. In the meantime, many, many thousands of willing spectators have nothing to watch. Quite frankly, it's a downright disgrace.
On Sky didn't see it and wont ever see anything on that channel....BBC need to get some mens golf back asap
