@184 mikecAgree 100% on the Masters,a major by default. As for Georgia Hall,I was delighted for her Open win but there's no doubt home advantage played a big part and it's a whole new ball game taking on the top LPGA players on a regular basis like the Jutanugarn sisters ,Nelly Korda,Brooke Henderson and any number of Seoul Sisters and the Chinese contingent.LET lacks the same strength.
#183..They “somehow” control the tournament because it’s their tournament..That’s how it’s an invitational, it started out that way..That’s why it’s also (in my opinion) the poorest major because of it..Great spectacle no doubt, but a tricked up course, that mere mortals would never be allowed to play..It’s all about the mystique. Give me a proper links course anyday 👍🏻
I would love for the Women's game to reflect the men's, same majors, WGCs etc. Unfortunately Augusta probably wont allow it, they somehow control the tournament, hence dictate terms, they wouldn't allow a lead sponsor and who would fund the tournament without that? You can't blame anyone for wanting equality but this is sport, you need to improve the product, not just cry foul play.
Women’s golf is so watchable, I actually learn more watching the ladies play. Technique, that m8ng, sequencing etc not raw power. Let’s hope they get the gig at Augusta...double compelling viewing every year then...
As an average amateur, I think we men can learn a lot from watching Ladies professional golf, the timing of their shots etc, it's not all about booming it miles!! In today's age no golf club should be exclusive to men only tournaments. But having said that I feel golf should be looking to expand further and another major in the USA wouldn't be a good thing.
I watch Mens and Ladies golf. I get enjoyment from both.I have played some of the courses the Ladies play from the same tees and despite being a low handicapper I can't match them. They are far better than some give them credit. Anybody who plays this game better than me is worth watching and learning from. I don't care what they have in their trousers.
@177 jbates1under“She has small teeth and big gums”So that’s the secret ingredient that makes her a Major winner. Who knew? What is it that makes you a scratch (sorry, 1 under) golfer?
@ 171. Thanks, still sounds like a made up word though. Have looked it up in the dictionary, and it does exist ,unfortunately!😁

Why not, the duty of anyone with an interest in any sport is to ensure that it develops to the maximum; for spectators and competitors alike. Anyone using any sport for any other reason has a different agenda.
The LPGA should steer clear of Augusta and the obvious odious comparisons that would result and create their own identity as far as tournament venues are concerned. The Evian Championship,UL Crown, national Opens,Kingsmill along with Far East swing tournaments all offer great venues and quality golf which are worth watching and more relevant for amateurs to watch where skill replaces power.
Part of me thinks good idea why not but I also felt here we go again. The women must be allowed to push for opportunities but not raise equality issues (that will just get some wound up) but because they want to grow their tour and maximise opportunities. Dont beat the pc drum and instead say the truth, the appeal isnt there yet but will rise with greater opportunities. Nothing wrong with that
Whether Georgia Hall has a valid point to make is subject to debate as in this case it looks at an isolated view without real contextIt’s cheap/soundbite journalism often used as click baitThe more perceptive comments on here ask not unreasonable questions & have taken the time to look at anologous situations in different Sports eg TennisBut best of luck to Georgia who’s doing a great job1
5 Majors and to play at Augusta is too much the womens game is developing and is good to watch but this would be a step too far other sports only have 4 concentrate on making those special instead of always wanting to be compared to the mens game
@153 Always use the big stickBobby Jones himself named the tournament 'The Augusta Invitational'.
