Navel gazing over terminology and rules makes grass growing so much more inspiring! Just get out on the course, play it as you find it, play the ball as it lies, enjoy the surroundings and the banter, avoid the rules/pace of play/handicap/'I can birdie this hole' bores AND look forward to the next round, where ever it might be. And look for the best professional golf, never mind gender!
I'm not sure I care what happens in 2020 but we need better journalists. Brown-nosing the odd few 'top' stars who don't always win doesn't cut it anymore. Anyone can win, which makes it special. I don's care about BBC'a lamentable surrender to subscription TV coverage as now i would rather play than sit in front of the 'box' watching screens full of data and listening to bloated egos.
Golf would be an even greater sport if it wasn’t just Tigger and Golden Balls.
Woods won the major he was most likely to win. A course he knows so well but still an incredible comeback. He's played exceptionally well and is realistically a top 20 player.
What we learned in 2019 is just how fantastic the sport of golf remains. No surprise there. If we could all perform perfectly, it would be boring. People somehow manage to keep their game together for four days & win a major.Others cheat & then deny it , 2019 had everything. Looking forward to a great & more honest 2020 from the Tour players.
@66 By the time match of the day is shown all the games have already been played so we all know the results. What has match of the say got to do with predicting results? It is a shame BBC dont show live golf anymore
@63 Gmac.... I don't know what premier league football you are watching.....no-one can predict the outcome of any of the premier league matches. Id say you're simply trolling on here?!!
McIlroy is too honest to be popular. People don't seem to like it and prefer golfers who utter nothing but bland platitudes.
"Harrington is determined to capitalise and force the first away win since the "Miracle at Medinah" in 2012."There has only been one away Ryder Cup for Europe, since 2012.The USA, have not won away since 1993.
The brightest aspect of golf at the moment is Robert MacIntyre, single handed he reignite my interest in the professional game as I have long since been bored with Woods, McIlroy and co. As for the the BBC, their complete withdrawl from live golf is a disgrace considering the millions they plough into Match of the Day which is showing highlights of games everyone already knows the result of...
Rory McIlroy has to be the most frustrating player this decade! Amazing on his day, truly great. But those days are so sporadic I find it hard to class him as 'one of the greats'! Hope he adds consistency to his game (although I wonder if he's committed enough to the game to do that!?) because he's a joy to watch when he's playing well!
The European Women’s team winning the Solheim Cup, was the golfing highlight of the year for me, a great event and a wonderful advert for golf in general.Still can’t understand the negativity that Rory McIlroy attracts, but I guess that just comes down to opinions. My view though is that he simply has too much talent to not add to his major victories, sooner rather than later.
