Guernsey cruised through to the third round of hockey's HA Vase with a convincing 10-1 win over Croydon.

Chloe Dawes and Bianca Symes put Guernsey 2-0 up in the first six minutes and they led 4-0 at half-time.

Symes led the scoring with a hat-trick while Michaela de Vial also scored three, Lizzie Stonebridge scored twice and Laura Webber got the other.

"I don't think anyone would have predicted 10-1," island captain Emma Atkinson told BBC Guernsey.

"We know we were in for a tough game and we knew that we would create chances.

"But we were confident and we believed in the hockey that we play. We were confident in our own abilities to get the result that we intended to get."

Guernsey will play in the next round in February.
