Guernsey Hockey Club player-coach Andy Whalley expects competition for places to be tougher than ever as they look to progress in the HA Trophy.
The island side to make it through to the quarter-finals of the tournament.
"I've got 20-odd real quality guys now fighting for those 16 spots," Whalley told BBC Guernsey.
"Now it's a quarter-final place everyone wants to be in the starting 11 so training will be tough."
Guernsey will have to wait until February to find out who their opponents will be in the last eight.
"I've got good aspirations, I think we can do very well," Whalley added.
