Ireland's women lost 2-1 to Scotland in their Celtic Cup opener at Lisnagarvey on Friday night.
Alison Bell opened the scoring for the Scots in the 49th minute with a deflected shot and Ailsa Wylie added the second with a penalty corner goal with 14 minutes remaining.
Chloe Watkins volleyed home from close range for a late consolation goal.
Ireland's men had secured an impressive victory over Olympics-bound Lisnagarvey on Thursday night.
A deft touch from Chris Cargo put the Irish ahead and John Jermyn's penalty stroke made it 2-0 before Lance Louw pulled one back on 31 minutes.
Timmy Cockram slid in to net Ireland's third and he set up Jason Lynch to score, while Lloyd Jones bagged a late consolation for the tourists.
