Chris Ciriello, Simon Orchard and Blake Govers put Australia 3-0 up before Chris Griffiths struck back for Bobby Crutchley's much-changed side.
Jamie Dwyer, Ciriello and Aran Zalewski completed the rout at Bisham Abbey.
Great Britain now head to Belgium on Saturday for the start of the World League semi-final, which doubles as an Olympic qualifier.
Crutchley, who left out four of his most senior players, said: "Inconsistent is the best way to describe our performance."
