Strong Suit produced a classy display to win the Lennox Stakes at a canter.

Ridden by Richard Hughes and trained by Richard Hannon, the 5-2 favourite was on the shoulder of Red Jazz but once he kicked on there was no challenge.

Red Jazz held on for second, while Beacon Lodge was third. Delegator, ridden by Frankie Dettori, was never in the running.

"He might be a horse for the Sussex Stakes next year," said assistant trainer Richard Hannon Jr.

"I think he will get a mile in time but there are so many nice races like this for him to mop up."

Earlier in the Gordon Stakes, Namibian pipped favourite Fiorente on the line to win a fantastic duel.

Fiorente looked like he would earn another triumph in this race for trainer Sir Michael Stoute as the 11-10 shot led with a furlong to go.

But the Queen Vase winner, ridden by Sylvestre de Sousa, had more to give to produce a superb finish. Hunter's Light was third.

The result immediately reduced the price for the Mark Johnston trained horse for the St Leger.
