The third day of the Punchestown Festival will go ahead after passing a Thursday morning inspection.

However, only five races will be run after two chases were called off following more heavy rain overnight.

The cancellation of the Ryanair Novice Chase and a handicap means the day's racing will now begin at 1655 BST instead of 1540.

The Punchestown Gold Cup, the festival's feature, was postponed on Wednesday and rescheduled for Saturday.

It was one of two steeplechases called off after heavy rain left parts of the Kildare course waterlogged.

The Gold Cup is set to feature Willie Mullins' Hennessy Gold Cup winner Quel Esprit.
