i didn't even have a bet. There's no point if I can't watch the race.
Strange decision to run Camelot in the St. Leger and the Arc. If anything, a Leger can deflate stud fees as a good percentage of winners end up as national hunt stallions. Then to run him after coming up short in the Leger - and also having run in really testing conditions in Ireland prior to that is odd too. Mind you, I reckon O'Brien knows a bit more than me. Fair play to Peslier, great horseman
BBC have relinquished all horse racing. Can't afford it. Just like they can't afford live football or live cricket. C4 should have shown the Arc, but maybe next year once the coverage is revamped.
I think Camelot was taking to the well to often.it had to be dry sooner or later, the Arc is a race I for one have never had a bet on,yes a bit annoyed C4 didn't show it.
well done solemia
The report doesn't do justice to what was an unusual and thrilling race.Good decision not to run Frankel. In that ground I doubt he'd have been placed.
The richest and, lets face it, biggest race in Europe with plenty of British and Irish interest and yet completely ignored by terrestrial TV! Channel 4 was mentioned before and I'm surprised they don't show it any more. I watched it on ATR between races from Uttoxeter and Tipperary, no build up, no atmosphere, just 'another race' it felt like.We have the best race horse ever and no Arc on UK TV..
@2 the BBC don't even show F1 any more. For some reason they've given up on regular sport.
For a sport that has the second highest attendance figures after football, i find it shocking that the BBC in particular have year after year slowly washed their hands of horse racing. Racing needs terrestrial exposure to gain an audience.Thank god for C4 otherwise the nail would firmly be in the coffin. I can fondly remember the days when all three channels hosted the sport of kings.Such a shame!
I totally agree, it's very sad that such a fantastic meeting isn't staged on terestrial TV. Given that the BBC have lost the rights to all British racing to channel 4 it would be really good to make an effort to show the best of racing outside of this nation (e.g. Longchamp, Breeders Cup, Dubai World Cup).
yes i agree we seem to be stuck with this rubbish formula 1 racing which is just boring and brenden foster swooning over that 1 and only englishman mo
I remember when the BBC had more than a passing interest in horseracing.......Peter O'Sullivan, Julian Wilson, Clive Graham, ah those were great days, and where did it all go and why??????No Arc on BBC what a farce, still we have Brandan Foster swooning over Mo instead!
