Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is set to have a runner in the Grand National at Aintree.

Harry The Viking, part-owned by Ferguson, will be entered for the race on 6 April.

Ferguson is unlikely to attend as his side are due to host Manchester City in the Premier League on the same day.

It will not be his first Grand National runner as What A Friend, also trained by Paul Nicholls, was pulled up in the 2011 race.

Harry the Viking, who is owned by Ferguson with three others, is rated around a 33-1 chance by bookmakers for the demanding 30-fence contest over more than four miles,

The eight-year-old was second to leading National contender Teaforthree in the National Hunt Chase for amateur riders at the Cheltenham Festival in March 2012, but has disappointed on his last three runs.
