Godolphin colt Piping Rock dies after bout of colic
Unbeaten Godolphin colt Piping Rock, winner of the Horris Hill Stakes at Newbury in October, has been put down after suffering a severe bout of colic.
Unbeaten in three starts, Piping Rock was considered a Classic candidate and the son of Dubawi was earmarked for the 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket in May.
Trainer Richard Hannon jnr said: "He was a genuine Guineas contender so it is very sad to lose such a good horse.
"Very sadly there was nothing they could do to save him."
