Robin Hoods Bay (10-1) won the Coral Winter Derby at Lingfield, with favourite Grandeur down the field.
Jockey Luke Morris guided last year's runner-up, trained in Newmarket by Ed Vaughan, to a three-quarter length victory over Godolphin's Windhoek.
Grandeur, ridden by Ryan Moore for Jeremy Noseda, struggled from the widest draw in the 14-runner contest.
Martin Dwyer returned from injury after a January fall with a win on Stepper Point in the Hever Sprint Stakes.
Ertjaaal, a 2000 Guineas hope trained by William Haggas, took the 32 Red Spring Cup.
