Macrae you are being very hard on Arctic Fire who is still only 5 and has been improving all season.....Peace and Co won't see which way Faugheen goes next season...though I do like the former horse and backed him also...it is plain to see Faugheen is another Freak and will dominate just as Istabraq did !
Come on Evzona,Although Faugheen won easily the bare form of beating Arctic Fire is nothing special and i truly believe Peace and co will be a worthy opponent next year,He travels like a rolls royce but not sure about Douvan now.He did not look to be enjoying it much to me looking at him.Think he would like softer ground.Zarkander would have won but you have to jump them,
Unfortunately, there are some people out there who wish to see the racehorse and the greyhound become extinct...just like the dinosaur and the dodo ! The thoroughbreds have been with us for many centuries now...long may they continue !
14. Andrew EvzonaI agree with that. It seems all of Faugheen's likeliest challengers want holding up, so he'll get an easy lead again. Not that he needs such an advantage as he appears to be the best hurdler anyway, but I can't see anything getting near him.
1. Posted by TartanArmyFootSoldierGiven your undoubted concern for animals could you please tell us all if you are a vegetarian who doesn't wear leather clothes and shoes please ? We would all be interested to know.
There is talk of Douvan and Peace and Co emerging as possible challengers for the Champion Hurdle next year. Forget it....Faugheen will lead from flagfall and Arctic Fire will follow him home again...a repeat 1-2 a la Istabraq-Theatreworld .....roll on the Aintree and Punchestown Festivals now...NH Racing remains far more exciting than Flat Racing !
Tartanarmyfootsoldier: Racing is full of ordinary working people who like a punt, many saving x amount per month for Cheltenham week. To say horses are murdered for racing is wrong. You obviously have no idea how well loved and looked after thoroughbred horses are. Lads/lasses get up at 530am to muck out, feed, ride and care for their horses everyday of the year they are in stables in all weathers
Good to see attendances for the meeting up.Channel 4 viewing figures were down though. Not sure the BHA really has the right strategy when it comes to promoting horse racing or the tv coverage.
Highlights for me were Coneygree and Cole Harden winning the Gold Cup and World Hurdle for smaller stables, Willie Mullins dominating the week, AP McCoy getting a Grade 1 win in the Ryanair and Jamie Codd riding two winners particularly on The Package.

Oh, Annie you cost many of us very dearly. Its great to have the four days instead of the previous three for the festival, but to me it means that some of the lesser races are not of the calibre they used to be. But, as usual, fantastic atmosphere, racing , emotion and the besr sporting event of the year. My highlight,,, Conygree,, wow, what a horse,, reminds me of Bestmate.. Well done Cheltenham,
@1 Tartancannonfodder You could sink billions into Scottish football fella, but it'd still be utterly dire. On a more meaningful note, really sorry we'll not see AP at Cheltenham. Doesn't seem real what with him being such an ever present at the festival. Highlights of the week, Un DeSceaux, Coneygree and Vautour for me.
Why do people like TartanArmyFootSoldier even bother posting? If you ban horse racing, what happens to all the horses?
TartanArmyFootSoldier Sorry pal you are in a minority!Sport is sport, horseracing gives a lot of pleasure, the jockeys and horses love what they do and you do not need to have a bet to enjoy the spectacle. The folk who want to ban fishing, fly swatting and such often have very little respect for human beings let alone animals. Still as a Scottish football fan you will be used to failure!
As sport it was excellent but it now has a cartel of trainers and owners who have ruined its standing as an everyman's sport. So, not surprisingly, my only pleasure all week was the Coneygree spectacular, I just hope the rest of his career does not resemble that of the horse he resembles - Denman. I bet that Plumpton vet is feeling somewhat stupid now.
Another tremendous Festival and I can't recall ever seeing both winners of the Champion Hurdle and Gold Cup lead from start to finish...Douvan,Un De Sceaux,Faugheen,Don Poli and Vautour were exceptional for Team Mullins and he was very unlucky when another superstar Annie Power fell at the last when cruising home, yet he still won it with Glens Melody, and,Team Mullins will dominate next year too !
Such a shame that AP McCoy has run his last race at Cheltenham and at least he had a winner. Such a magnificent jockey who is one of the greatest Irish sportsman of all time. The rivalry between GB and Ireland is always close at Cheltenham. Congratulations to Willie Mullins for the winners he got.
well done to all the toffs, land barons and millionaire bookmakers on another money-spinning week of racing. Who cares about animal rights, the murdering of innocent horses or the millions of gambling addicts losing their wages? not the BBC or Lysaught. Sooner this nonsense is banned the better. Money should be put into addiction research, animal welfare shelters and Scottish football
